Kristijan Jakic joins PAOK on loan from Augsburg

PAOK Thessaloniki has reached an agreement with German club Augsburg to acquire 29-year-old Croatian defensive midfielder Kristijan Jakic on a loan deal for the current season. The player is scheduled to arrive at Thessaloniki's Macedonia Airport on Tuesday, September 8, at 11:15 a.m., where he will undergo medical and ergometric examinations before officially signing his contract with the Greek side. Jakic, born on May 14, 1997, is a right-footed midfielder who has represented the Croatian national team 17 times, scoring two goals.

The deal comes after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs. While reports differ regarding the specifics of the purchase option—with some sources noting that Augsburg previously insisted on a mandatory clause—the final terms of the transfer are expected to be clarified upon the player's arrival. Jakic joins PAOK following a successful tenure in Bavaria, where he recorded 78 appearances, 5 goals, and 3 assists for Augsburg since joining in January 2024. He has previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt. Upon completion of the medical checks, Jakic will be available for selection by head coach Alessio Lisi.
