Recent arrests in Limassol concerning two separate criminal investigations

On the evening of September 7, 2026, Cyprus Police arrested two men, aged 23 and 24, following the alleged abduction of an 18-year-old from a park in Limassol. The victim was reportedly forced into a vehicle and threatened over financial disputes. Some reports indicate these disputes may be linked to drug-related transactions. The suspects face charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping, extortion, and money laundering. They were expected to appear before the Limassol District Court for remand proceedings.

In a separate case, a 30-year-old man was arrested in Larnaca for an assault that occurred on August 5, 2026, in the Limassol district. The 49-year-old victim suffered head and hand injuries after reportedly being attacked over an extortion demand of 3,600 euros, which began in late July. Following his arrest, the Limassol District Court ordered the 30-year-old to be held in pre-trial detention for three days to facilitate the investigation into the extortion and assault.
