Two men arrested in Limassol following kidnapping and extortion case

Police in Limassol have arrested two suspects, aged 23 and 24, following an incident on the evening of Monday, September 7, 2026. The two men allegedly approached an 18-year-old in a public park and forced him into their vehicle. The victim was then transported to a different location, where he was threatened in relation to outstanding financial disputes.

According to reports from Cyprus Times, authorities believe the incident is linked to illegal narcotics transactions, with the victim, a Romanian national, allegedly selling drugs provided by the suspects. Police successfully located the vehicle and the individuals involved shortly after receiving the report. The suspects were taken into custody and are facing charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping, extortion, and money laundering. Both the Criminal Investigation Department and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit are participating in the ongoing investigation.

The two suspects were scheduled to appear before the Limassol District Court on Tuesday morning to face remand proceedings. The investigation is continuing as officials work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the financial disputes and the alleged drug-related activities.
