Investigation intensifies after infant found dead in Athens

Authorities in Kypseli, Athens, are investigating the death of an infant discovered in a frozen state inside a suitcase. Three individuals—a 43-year-old Greek man, his 38-year-old German partner, and a 26-year-old Afghan national—were initially detained for drug trafficking and are now facing murder charges. Forensic reports contradict the parents' initial claims of natural causes, stating the infant suffered multiple stab wounds to the back and torso that caused fatal hemorrhaging.

Following the discovery of the body, the three suspects underwent a lengthy interrogation. While the parents previously claimed the child died of natural causes, they later changed their testimony to allege that an unnamed third party murdered the infant while they were away, later blackmailing them into silence. The 26-year-old suspect, who had been residing with the family, faces additional charges related to sexual acts with a minor, specifically the family's 15-year-old daughter. All three suspects remain in custody as the legal proceedings continue.

In addition to the primary murder and abuse charges, the suspects face accusations of illegal weapon possession, ammunition hoarding, and providing false testimony to authorities. The court is currently weighing the conflicting testimonies as the investigation into the household's activities continues.
