Omonia favored to win Cyprus League after two rounds

Following the conclusion of the second matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, the algorithm of Football Meets Data has identified Omonia Nicosia as the primary favorite to win the championship. Omonia, the reigning title holder, has seen its winning probability rise to approximately 54%, reflecting an increase of 5% compared to previous projections. The current standings in the algorithm’s prediction model place AEK Larnaca in second position with 23-24%, followed by Pafos FC with 13%. The remaining top six spots are filled by Apollon Limassol at 6%, Aris Limassol at 1-2%, and APOEL Nicosia at 0.8-1%.

These projections follow the completion of the early season schedule, which included a recent victory for Omonia against Aris and a goalless draw between Pafos and Olympiakos. While the sample size of matches remains small, the data suggests that the league could see a repeat of last year's top six finishers. Conversely, the model identifies ENY and Karmiotissa as the primary candidates for relegation, with Olympiakos, Nea Salamina, Omonia 29th of May, and Omonia Aradippou also facing significant risk.
