Man pleads guilty to fatal stabbing of father in Limassol

A 48-year-old man appeared before the Limassol Criminal Court on September 8, 2026, and entered a guilty plea to the charge of manslaughter. He was accused of fatally stabbing his elderly father, Giorgos Hadjigeorgiou, during the early hours of July 9, 2025, in Limassol.

The forensic examination revealed that the victim sustained a total of nine stab wounds, including six to the chest and three to the arm, two of which were identified as fatal. During his initial interrogation at the Limassol CID offices on the day of the incident, the perpetrator confessed to the crime. He claimed that he committed the act because he believed his father was a “freemason” and possessed an “aura” that caused him to fall ill whenever they were in close proximity.

Following the change of plea, the court has scheduled the sentencing hearing for late September, at which time the prosecution will present the full facts of the case. The defendant remains in custody awaiting his final sentencing.
