Police investigate vehicle thefts during a wedding reception in Lefkara

Authorities in Larnaca are searching for perpetrators involved in a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred on the night between Saturday, September 5, and the early hours of Sunday, September 6, 2026. The incidents took place in the village of Lefkara while the victims were attending a wedding reception.

Police have received two formal complaints regarding these thefts. In both cases, the perpetrators shattered the front passenger window of the parked vehicles to gain entry. The first victim reported the theft of a shoulder bag containing 100 euros, an identity card, and a credit card. The second victim reported a stolen bag containing approximately 800 euros and a checkbook. Local citizens have indicated that additional incidents may have occurred but were not reported to the authorities.

The Lefkara Police Station is currently conducting an investigation into these crimes. While no suspects have been identified yet, these incidents highlight a pattern of criminal activity where perpetrators specifically target high-attendance social gatherings to exploit the distraction of the attendees.
