Cyprus submits Hold Onto Me for the 2027 Oscars
The Cyprus Department of Contemporary Culture announced on September 8, 2026, that the film "Hold Onto Me" (Krata Me), directed by Myrsini Aristidou, has been selected as the country's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
A seven-member National Nomination Committee selected the project following a formal evaluation process that adhered to the standards set by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the United States. The film, produced by Monika Nikolaidou of Filmblades, features a crew including cinematographer Lasse Ulvedal Tolbol, production designer Dimitra Sourlantzi, costume designer Sasia Paludan, editor Jenna Mangulad, and composer Alex. The production has now been officially submitted to the Academy.
The 99th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, USA, on March 14, 2027. The Ministry of Culture and the nomination committee have publicly expressed their support for the filmmakers as the entry proceeds to the next stage of consideration by the Academy.
