As the conflict in Ukraine continues as a war of attrition, European nations are accelerating military preparations amid reports of domestic instability within Ukraine. President Zelenskyy’s recent 40-day campaign intended to pressure Russian industrial and oil sectors did not trigger the anticipated collapse; instead, it resulted in a more severe retaliatory response from Russia, leaving the outcome of the war increasingly uncertain.

In response to regional tensions, Poland has initiated the 'East Shield' project, a multi-layered defense system along its borders with Belarus and Kaliningrad. The system includes anti-tank obstacles, trenches, surveillance sensors, and communication infrastructure, with German support.
