Cypriot rider Andreas Iakovou achieves historic success in Slovakia

Cypriot motorcycle racer Andreas Iakovou, representing the FxCareer.eu Racing Team, completed a highly successful weekend at the Slovakia Ring circuit in Slovakia. Over the course of two days, held on September 5-6, 2026, Iakovou secured five podium finishes across two major competitions: the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship and the BMU European Road Racing Championship.

On Saturday, Iakovou achieved the first victory of his professional career in the STK600 category of the BMU championship. During the same period, he claimed third place in the SSP600 category and fourth place in the Alpe Adria STK600 race. On Sunday, he added another three podiums, including a second-place finish in the Alpe Adria STK600 category. According to his team, this achievement marks the first time a Cypriot rider has reached the podium in this specific category of the Alpe Adria championship, providing a significant boost to the profile of Cypriot motorcycling on the international stage.

The competition concluded with a formal ceremony during which the national anthem of Cyprus was played. Following these results, the athlete confirmed he remains focused on his continued professional development and future competitive goals in the sport.
