Lemesos municipality upgrades 20% of road and sidewalk network
Between July 2024 and June 2026, the Municipality of Lemesos completed a major infrastructure modernization project covering 20% of its municipal road network. The initiative involved an investment exceeding €21.5 million, aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility, and the quality of life for residents across the city.
The project included the reconstruction and resurfacing of 108.9 kilometers of road out of a total municipal network of approximately 500 kilometers. Specifically, 10.1 kilometers were addressed in 2025, followed by 98.8 kilometers in 2026, with a total expenditure on road infrastructure exceeding €12 million. Additionally, the municipality invested over €9.5 million to improve 81 kilometers of sidewalks and public spaces to ensure the city remains sustainable and pedestrian-friendly.
These interventions were managed by the municipal Technical Services Department as part of a commitment to improve urban functionality. The successful completion of these works marks a significant upgrade to the city's transport infrastructure, fulfilling the municipality's stated goal of creating a more accessible environment for both drivers and pedestrians.
