Police conduct nationwide security operations and investigations in Paphos

Cypriot police conducted a series of coordinated nationwide operations between September 10 and 11, 2026, aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public order. During an initial overnight operation on September 10, authorities arrested 14 individuals for offenses including burglary, theft, illegal possession of firearms, and practicing as private security guards without a license. Additionally, 188 traffic violations were recorded, and 45 premises were inspected. A follow-up operation the following night resulted in five more arrests for similar infractions.

Separately, police in Paphos carried out targeted investigations into the illegal employment of security personnel. On September 10, between 10:00 and 14:00, 24 businesses were checked, leading to the prosecution of six individuals and their respective employers for failing to comply with private security labor laws. In a further development, the Paphos District Court remanded three men aged 21, 26, and 44 in custody on September 11. These suspects, including two from Limassol, are facing charges related to several theft cases in Paphos involving vehicles and department store goods committed between July and September 2026. The stolen property has been recovered as investigations continue.
