Authorities search for two missing teenagers in Nicosia

Police in Nicosia are currently searching for two teenagers reported missing in separate incidents as of September 9, 2026. Sotiroula Oikonomidou, a 16-year-old girl, was last seen on September 8 at 5 p.m. She is described as having a thin build, 1.63 meters tall, with long black hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a beige shirt, black athletic pants, and black-and-white sneakers.

In a separate case, 16-year-old Medhat Aldarwish from Syria was reported missing from his residence in Nicosia on the morning of September 9, 2026, at approximately 7 a.m. He is described as thin, standing 1.67 meters tall, with dark eyes and black hair. Authorities have issued public appeals for both individuals.

The police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either teenager to contact the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 22802222, their nearest police station, or the Citizen Line at 1460 to assist with the ongoing investigations.
