Cyprus-Egypt strategic ties and updates on electrical interconnector project

On September 9, 2026, Cyprus government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis reaffirmed the high level of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Egypt, describing Cairo as a core strategic partner for security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. He dismissed reports suggesting that Cyprus is reconsidering its participation, but emphasized the necessity of updating economic, investment, and geopolitical studies to reflect current data.
