ENA Foundation launches campaign for neonatal screening in Cyprus

The ENA Foundation, established by Tasos Papanastasiou and Christiana Panagi, has announced the launch of a charitable campaign titled "490 kilometers for every child born in Cyprus." The initiative aims to raise €60,000 to support the Amerikos Argyriou Center for Preventive Pediatrics. These funds will be directed towards expanding the Neonatal Preventive Screening Program, which focuses on the early detection of serious illnesses in newborns.

The campaign is spearheaded by ultramarathon athlete Theodoros Sofokleous, who will participate in the Authentic Pheidippides Run scheduled from November 19 to 23, 2026. This grueling race covers the route from Athens to Sparta and back, totaling 490 kilometers over four days, which is equivalent to more than eleven consecutive marathons. Beyond the physical feat, the initiative serves as a public awareness effort to highlight the critical importance of early diagnosis for pediatric health. The collected donations will enable the center to conduct more comprehensive screenings, ensuring that newborns across the country receive timely medical evaluations for potentially life-threatening conditions.
