Fire incidents reported in Paphos and Limassol districts

Two separate fire incidents occurred in Cyprus recently, requiring swift intervention by emergency services to prevent further damage. On September 9, 2026, a fire broke out at 08:15 in the Argokalamo area near Goudi, Paphos, burning one hectare of dry grass and wild vegetation. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze by 10:05, preventing it from spreading to nearby residences. The operation involved five fire engines, two aerial units, the Department of Forests, the Game and Fauna Service, and the Paphos District Administration.

Separately, on September 10, 2026, authorities responded to a fire at a livestock farm in Anogyra, Limassol. The blaze, reported at 11:53, involved a container filled with hay bales. Fire crews from Pachna and Kivides used three vehicles to extinguish the fire by 13:50. All animals at the facility were safely evacuated. Investigations into the causes of both fires are currently underway.
