Wildfire contained in Goudi, Paphos
A wildfire broke out on the morning of September 9, 2026, at 08:15 in the 'Argokalamas' area near the Goudi community in the Paphos district. The fire burned through one hectare of dry grass and wild vegetation but was successfully brought under control by 10:05. Authorities confirmed that no residential properties in the vicinity were threatened by the flames.
The firefighting operation involved five vehicles from the Paphos Fire Stations and two aircraft that performed sequential water drops. Support was provided by the Department of Forests, which contributed two fire trucks and a hired bulldozer, along with the Game and Fauna Service, which deployed a portable firefighting unit. The Paphos District Administration also assisted the effort by providing an additional bulldozer. No injuries or structural damages have been reported as authorities continue to monitor the scene for potential flare-ups.
