Fire incidents reported in Nicosia and Paphos districts

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, a fire broke out at 18:59 in dry grass and wild vegetation near the 'Atsa' location, between the communities of Evrychou and Koutrafas in the Nicosia district. The blaze, which was controlled by 01:46 on Wednesday, affected two hectares of land and damaged a temporary metal structure containing timber. Emergency services from Evrychou, Peristerona, and the Forestry Department successfully prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby concrete production plant. The causes of the incident remain under investigation.

Separately, on the morning of September 9, 2026, at 08:15, a fire was reported in the 'Argokalamo' area near Goudi, Paphos district. The blaze burned one hectare of dry grass and wild vegetation before being brought under control at 10:05. A coordinated response involving five fire trucks from Paphos stations, two aerial firefighting units, the Forestry Department, the Game and Fauna Service, and the Paphos District Administration ensured that nearby residential properties remained safe throughout the operation.
