AEL Limassol acquires Chinedu Geoffrey on loan from Krylia Sovetov
AEL Limassol has officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker Chinedu Geoffrey on a loan deal from the Russian club PFC Krylia Sovetov Samara. The player will remain with the Cypriot team until the conclusion of the current season. This move comes as a direct response to the recent serious injuries sustained by the team's forwards, Gomis and Tsatakovic, which left the squad in urgent need of reinforcement in the attacking line.
The 28-year-old striker, born on October 1, 1997, was prioritized after the club failed to secure deals for Loren Morón and Frantzdy Pierrot due to budget constraints. Sources differ slightly on his physical attributes, citing his height as either 1.92m or 1.95m. Geoffrey brings significant international experience, having played in leagues across Ukraine, Finland, Serbia, China, and for FC Astana in Kazakhstan, where he notably faced APOEL in the Conference League.
AEL management acted quickly to finalize this transfer following a difficult period for the team, which included both personnel setbacks and a recent defeat against APOEL. The club hopes the addition of the Nigerian forward will provide the necessary strength and offensive depth needed to improve their performance in the upcoming matches.
