Court imposes ban on 24-year-old after GSP stadium violence

On September 6, 2026, during a football match between APOEL and AEL at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, severe violent incidents occurred. A 24-year-old individual has been charged with illegal possession of explosives, carrying an offensive weapon and dangerous items into a sports venue, and assaulting a police officer to resist arrest.

The Nicosia District Court ordered the suspect to be released under specific conditions to ensure his attendance at future court proceedings. Furthermore, acting on a request from the police, the court issued a ban preventing the individual from entering any sports facilities until the conclusion of the case.

The GSP administration praised the rapid intervention of the police and stadium security teams, noting that surveillance footage was instrumental in identifying suspects.
