Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation announces illustration contest for award-winning book

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation (BOCCF) has officially launched an illustration contest for the book "As the Lady Says..." (San kala ta leei i Kyra), written by Maria Papandreou. The book previously won a writing competition organized by the Cyprus Association for Children’s and Young Adult Books, which was sponsored by the BOCCF.

The competition is open to all Cypriot and Greek illustrators and visual artists, regardless of whether they reside in Cyprus or abroad. The book itself is targeted at readers aged 11 and older and serves as a coming-of-age story. It addresses complex themes including the violent upheaval of daily life, personal loss, and the resilience of the human spirit through a child's perspective, utilizing symbolism and subtle humor.

As the contest sponsor, the BOCCF is tasked with the publication and distribution of the final work. The finished book is currently scheduled to be released in 2026.
