Omonia secures the return of David Akintola

Omonia Nicosia has officially announced the return of Nigerian winger David Akintola to the club on a two-year contract. The 31-year-old player, who previously impressed fans during a brief stint in the 2019/20 season, arrives as a free agent from English Championship side Hull City, where he struggled to secure regular playing time. The acquisition is viewed as a strategic move to add speed and experience to the team's attacking lineup under coach Henning Berg.

Following the completion of the transfer during the final stages of the registration period, Omonia successfully finalized the procedural paperwork with the English Football Association. Akintola has been registered with the Cyprus Football Association and is available for selection. Consequently, the player has been named in the official squad for the upcoming match against Apollon Limassol, scheduled for September 12 at 20:00 at the GSP Stadium. This move coincides with the departure of Tasos Chatzigiovanis, who has left the club to join the Greek Super League side OFI, as Omonia continues to balance its squad composition.
