Cypriot Football Association disciplinary committee issues fines for 2026-2027 season incidents
The Disciplinary Committee of the Cyprus Football Association (KOP) has issued several rulings following incidents during the opening week of the 2026-2027 Cyprus League by Stoiximan season. The committee reviewed three specific complaints regarding player conduct, spectator behavior, and regulatory compliance.
Anorthosis Famagusta player Yoell van Nieff received a fine following his dismissal during the August 30, 2026, match against AEL Limassol. Officials determined that the player caused a serious injury during a fall, though the punishment was limited to a financial penalty. Additionally, Olympiakos Nicosia was fined due to their supporters using lasers against the fourth official during an August 28 match against Nea Salamina, violating article 10.2(ib) of the disciplinary regulations. Pafos FC also faced disciplinary action for failing to include two players in their starting lineup who met the required local registration criteria under Chapter IX, article 13.5 of the league regulations.
These decisions follow a string of disciplinary reviews conducted by the committee to maintain compliance with competition rules. The ruling concludes these specific administrative proceedings, with clubs required to settle the imposed fines in accordance with KOP protocols.
