Apple unveils the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 series

Apple officially unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, during an annual event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. The device, which opens like a book to reveal a large internal screen, features a titanium frame and specialized software adaptations, such as vertical docks and thumb-accessible controls. It is positioned as a high-end device, with prices starting at $1,999 for the 256 GB model and reaching up to 2 TB of storage. Pre-orders for the device are scheduled to begin on October 16, with a market release set for October 23. European pricing reflects a premium market positioning, with costs ranging from 2,399 euros for the base model to 3,949 euros for the 2 TB configuration.

Alongside the foldable, the company introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, featuring the new A20 Pro chip, enhanced thermal management, and upgraded camera systems with variable apertures. This event marked a significant leadership transition, as John Ternus conducted his first major presentation as CEO, while Tim Cook attended in his new capacity as Chairman of the Board. These new product launches aim to test consumer demand for high-end foldable technology and advanced computing capabilities in mobile devices.
