Alexander Zverev advances to US Open semifinals
German tennis player Alexander Zverev has reached the semifinals of the US Open after a straight-sets victory against Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp. The world No. 2 won the match with scores of 6-2, 7-5, 6-1, marking his third consecutive win without dropping a set following two intense five-set matches earlier in the tournament.
Zverev, who claimed his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros this past June, has now reached the semifinals of all four major tournaments this season. Having previously been a finalist in New York in 2020 and a semifinalist in 2021, the 29-year-old is now preparing for his next challenge in the tournament.
In the upcoming semifinal match scheduled for Friday, Zverev will face Russian player Karen Khachanov. Khachanov secured his spot in the final four after his opponent, Alexander Blockx of Belgium, withdrew while trailing 6-2, 7-5, 3-2 in the third set.
