Cabinet approves new tourism incentive schemes

On September 10, 2026, the Cyprus Council of Ministers approved a series of incentive schemes aimed at diversifying tourism products and increasing visitor numbers in less popular areas. Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis announced the measures, which include a specific grant program for Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias. This initiative targets hotels, tourist accommodations, and recreation centers, offering to cover 85% of eligible expenses with a total budget of €1.5 million for the 2026-2028 period.

In addition to the Kato Pyrgos project, the cabinet approved incentives for conference tourism, the attraction of foreign sports teams for training, and the implementation of experiential workshops, all covering the 2026-2029 period. Furthermore, a subsidy plan for Christmas Villages was approved for the upcoming year. These programs represent an effort to support regional development and enrich the country's tourism services, addressing long-standing developmental challenges in remote areas.

While the Kato Pyrgos plan focuses on infrastructure upgrades to leverage local natural and cultural advantages, the other incentives seek to establish Cyprus as a destination for specialized tourism segments throughout the year.
