Drone tribute marks 25th anniversary of 9/11 in New York

On September 9, 2026, two days before the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, a commemorative light show took place over New York Harbor. The performance, produced by Sky Elements, utilized 2,977 drones to project the full-scale, illuminated silhouettes of the original World Trade Center Twin Towers into the night sky. The tribute, which occurred alongside the traditional annual 'Tribute in Light' beams over Lower Manhattan, involved participation from survivors, victims' families, and first responders.
