Olympiacos participates in Neofytos Chandriotis basketball tournament in Cyprus

Olympiacos Piraeus is currently in Cyprus participating in the international Neofytos Chandriotis basketball tournament, held in Nicosia. The team arrived with a strong roster, including stars such as Sasha Vezenkov, Evan Fournier, and Nikola Milutinov, although center Tyrique Jones did not travel with the team due to a minor surgical procedure to remove a cyst from his thigh.

In their opening match on September 11, 2026, Olympiacos secured a narrow 89-87 victory against Red Star Belgrade. Sasha Vezenkov led the effort with 22 points, while Evan Fournier added 16 points. The game remained competitive until the final seconds, when a late steal by Jean Montero and a decisive three-pointer by Vezenkov secured the win for the Greek side.

Following this victory, Olympiacos is scheduled to face Maccabi Tel Aviv on September 13 at 18:00. This tournament serves as a key preparation stage for the upcoming EuroLeague season, ahead of the team's planned participation in the EuroLeague Super Cup in Qatar on September 18-19. Meanwhile, Aris Thessaloniki is also competing in the tournament, facing Red Star Belgrade as part of their own pre-season testing.
