Boeing 737 incident causes runway closure at Basel-Mulhouse Airport

On September 10, 2026, the main runway at Basel-Mulhouse Airport (EuroAirport) was temporarily closed following an incident involving a Boeing 737 aircraft. The plane became immobilized on runway 15 during takeoff due to technical issues, forcing airport authorities to restrict operations to ensure passenger and crew safety.

The immobilization of the aircraft led to significant operational disruptions, including the diversion of incoming flights to neighboring airports, as well as the cancellation of approximately ten departures and ten arrivals. Technical crews were dispatched to the site to assess the situation and successfully remove the aircraft from the runway. Following the clearance of the obstruction, normal flight operations resumed at the facility.
