Recent fire incidents across Cyprus: Oroklin, Engomi, Orounda and Latsi
Between September 11 and 14, 2026, several fire incidents were reported across Cyprus. On September 13, a wildfire burning dry grass and vegetation in Orounda near 'Kampos tou Mylou' involved the Forestry Department, Game Service, and volunteer groups. The fire consumed approximately four hectares before being brought under control by the afternoon of September 14. Simultaneously, a fire broke out near Latsi and Neo Chorio on September 14, triggering the 'Astrapi' emergency plan. Firefighting forces from the Akamas and Drousia stations quickly contained the blaze, protecting nearby residences and rendering aerial support unnecessary. Investigations into the causes of the structural fires are pending site safety inspections.
