Cypriot clubs launch historic campaign in EHF European Cup

Cypriot handball clubs Parnassos Strovolou and Omonia 29M mark the beginning of Cyprus' record-breaking participation in the EHF European Cup. This season, a historic total of six Cypriot teams will compete in European competitions, with three making their debut. The expansion of representation underscores the growing presence of Cypriot handball on the international stage.

Parnassos Strovolou will face Slovenia's Gorenje Velenje in the first round. Due to logistical arrangements, both matches are scheduled at the Rdeca Dvorana arena in Slovenia, with the first leg on Saturday, September 12, at 20:00 and the second leg on Sunday, September 13, at the same time. Meanwhile, Omonia 29M is preparing for its first-ever European appearance against the Lithuanian side Granitas-Karys. The first leg will take place at the Kyriakos Pissis stadium in Cyprus on Saturday, September 12, at 19:00, followed by the return match in Lithuania on September 20.

Looking ahead, other Cypriot teams will soon join the European calendar. The men’s champion, Sabbianco Anorthosis, is set to enter the competition in the second round, while the women’s division will see participation from EN Athienou, Mavrommatis Agiou Pavlou, and APOEL KN Agias Trimithias.
