Cyprus Safety and Health Council reviews labor accident statistics

The Pancyprian Safety and Health Council met on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, to review labor accident statistics from the first half of 2026. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Tasoula Kyprianidou-Leontidou, Acting Director of the Department of Labor Inspection, with representatives from social partners in attendance.

During the session, officials presented actions taken during the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026, alongside new legislation and tools designed to assist employers in complying with safety and health regulations. A significant focus was placed on the 'Safe Pass' educational program for construction workers. The council reached a consensus that the program should be continued and strengthened, leading to the decision to establish a dedicated Technical Committee to oversee its future implementation and development.
