Deputy minister of tourism discusses industry recovery in Limassol

On Friday, September 11, 2026, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis met with the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) and the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE) to discuss challenges and future prospects for the Limassol region's tourism sector. The discussions focused on collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to bolster the local tourism product.

During the meeting, Koumis highlighted the successful management of a major tourism crisis that impacted the country earlier in the year. He reported that total tourist arrivals for the first seven months of 2026 showed an 8% decline. However, the minister noted that this downward trend is stabilizing, and current projections estimate the annual decline will be contained to approximately 5% by year-end. Koumis emphasized that maintaining Cyprus’s competitiveness as a destination relies on continuous and efficient cooperation between government bodies and private industry stakeholders.
