Anorthosis blocked from using stadium giant screens for match broadcasting

Anorthosis Famagusta's request to display live television footage and match replays on its new giant screens at the Freedom Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium during the September 12 match against APOEL was rejected by the Cyprus Football Association (KOP). The club intended to use the screens to enhance the fan experience during the third round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, arguing that such technology is standard in modern European venues.

The KOP denied the request by citing Article 19 of the league's regulations, which explicitly prohibits the broadcasting or re-transmission of match highlights on stadium screens. While the club expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, stating that its investment was effectively blocked, it confirmed that the screens would still be utilized in other capacities during the derby.

Anorthosis plans to continue discussions with the federation to find a compromise that would allow for future use of the technology. For the match against APOEL, the screens are operational for purposes other than broadcasting live game footage, marking their official debut in the renovated stadium.
