Cyprus extradites suspect linked to Hamas arms network to Germany

Cypriot authorities have extradited a Lebanese-born man, identified as Kamel M., to Germany regarding his alleged participation in a Hamas arms procurement network. The transfer occurred in March 2026, following his arrest at Larnaca Airport on March 6, 2026, which was executed based on a European arrest warrant issued one month earlier. He was placed in pre-trial detention in Germany on March 20, 2026, by order of an investigative judge at the Federal Court of Justice.

Kamel M. is one of seven individuals named in a federal indictment filed with the Berlin State Security Court. The other suspects include Wael F. and Borhan el-K. (also born in Lebanon), Danish national Youssef K., German nationals Abed al G. and Ahmed I., and Bulgarian citizen Mohamed S. According to the German federal prosecution, all seven are accused of being members or affiliates of the Hamas organization, with the indictment alleging their involvement in procuring weaponry for the group.

The case highlights ongoing cross-border efforts by European authorities to dismantle international networks suspected of supporting Hamas. While the legal proceedings are currently moving toward trial, judicial authorities have not yet announced specific dates for the court hearings, though the accused remain in state custody.
