Panathinaikos agrees to sign Roma defender Anas Salah Eddine
Panathinaikos has reached a verbal agreement with Roma to acquire 24-year-old Moroccan defender Anas Salah Eddine on a loan deal. The agreement includes an option for the Greek club to purchase the player next summer. Salah Eddine is expected to arrive in Athens tonight to undergo medical examinations, with the formal signing of his contract scheduled for Sunday, provided no issues arise.
This move aims to further strengthen the team's left defensive flank, supplementing the recent acquisition of Christiansen. The player previously spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he made 25 appearances. His strong performance led to his selection for the Morocco national team at the 2026 World Cup, where he played in four matches. Despite his desire to compete for a spot in the Roma squad, the parties ultimately decided on a transfer to Greece.
Earlier this summer, the defender was also linked to Olympiacos, but Panathinaikos successfully closed the deal following advanced negotiations. According to reports from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the structure of the deal involves a loan with a conditional obligation to buy based on specific performance criteria.
