Limassol DLG launches second city-wide pest control campaign
The Limassol District Local Government (DLG) has initiated the second phase of a city-wide campaign to combat cockroaches and rodents within the public sewage system. The operation, which began in September 2026, is scheduled to continue until December 7, 2026. The work involves spraying and bait placement carried out by a contracted company under the supervision of DLG officials.
The intervention is restricted exclusively to public sewer manholes. The DLG has explicitly stated that private sewer manholes and connection points at residential or commercial properties are not included in this program. Consequently, property owners and building managers are requested to arrange for independent cleaning and pest treatment of their own private facilities during this same period to ensure the effectiveness of the public efforts.
While the authorities have not provided a specific street-by-street schedule, they have invited citizens to contact the DLG for clarifications regarding their specific area. Officials emphasize that coordinated action between the public sector and private property holders is essential for successful pest control throughout the city.
