Recent wildfires across Greece and Cyprus

Several wildfires were reported across Greece and Cyprus between September 11 and 13, 2026. On Friday, September 11, a forest fire broke out near Partheni in Aliveri, Euboea. Emergency services, consisting of 40 firefighters, 12 vehicles, and specialized units, responded alongside six aircraft and two helicopters. A 112 emergency alert was issued shortly after the fire began at 14:00. Simultaneously, another fire was reported in the agricultural region of Cheimadio, Ilia, involving 22 firefighters and three aircraft.

In Cyprus, a brush fire erupted on September 13 in the 'Kampos tou Mylou' area of Orounta. The fire consumed dry grass and wild vegetation, prompting a mobilization of the Peristerona Agricultural Fire Station, the Forestry Department, the Game and Fauna Service, and voluntary groups including SupportCY and BlueHeart. Aerial firefighting assets conducted preventive drops to assist ground crews in containing the blaze. Authorities remain engaged in monitoring these areas to prevent further escalation or spread, while local governments continue to provide logistical support to emergency personnel working in high-risk zones.
