Anorthosis secures first league win by defeating APOEL 2-1

Anorthosis achieved its first victory of the 2026 Cyprus League by defeating APOEL 2-1 on September 12, 2026, during the third matchday at the Freedom Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium. Anorthosis took the lead in the 26th minute through a penalty converted by Kiko. Following an APOEL substitution at halftime, Tasos Bakasetas made his debut and equalized in the 51st minute with a long-range strike. However, Rafa Lopes secured the win for the hosts in the 90th minute, heading in a cross from a Kiko corner kick.

APOEL coach Nikos Papadopoulos acknowledged his team's poor performance, citing defensive lapses as the primary cause for the loss.
