Police arrest 21-year-old in Paphos for possession of untaxed tobacco

On the morning of September 13, 2026, police in Paphos, Cyprus, arrested a 21-year-old man following a raid on his residence. The operation was conducted at approximately 8:30 a.m. based on gathered information regarding the potential illegal trade of tobacco products.

During the search, authorities discovered 73 cartons of cigarettes of various brands, four boxes of heated tobacco devices, six kilograms of rolling tobacco, and eleven kilograms of hookah tobacco. These items were seized as evidence because they lacked the mandatory security markings and safety features required by law, leading police to conclude they were untaxed. The seized goods are now under the custody of the Paphos Customs Department.

The investigation is being handled by the Central Paphos Police Station in collaboration with the Paphos Customs Department. The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue their probe into the possession and potential trafficking of the illicit items.
