Police in Paphos arrest 21-year-old for possession of illicit tobacco products
On the morning of September 13, 2026, police officers in Paphos, Cyprus, conducted a search at the residence of a 21-year-old man following intelligence reports regarding illegal goods. During the operation, authorities discovered and confiscated a significant quantity of untaxed tobacco products lacking the required safety markings and security labels.
The seized inventory included 73 cartons of cigarettes of various brands, four cartons of heated tobacco devices, six kilograms of loose tobacco, and eleven kilograms of hookah tobacco. Based on these findings, the suspect was arrested on site. The investigation is currently being led by the Paphos Central Police Station in cooperation with the Paphos Customs Department to determine the origin of the goods and the extent of the illicit activity. Further legal proceedings are pending as the investigation continues.
