Limassol mourns the passing of Andreas Laos

Limassol is mourning the loss of Andreas Laos, a prominent self-made businessman and long-time public figure who contributed significantly to the city's political, social, and economic life. News of his death, confirmed on September 13, 2026, prompted official tributes from the Limassol Municipality, which expressed deep condolences to his wife Niki, his children, grandchildren, and relatives.

Laos served as a Municipal Councilor representing AKEL and was a key figure in the social life of the Agios Nikolaos district. His commitment to public service included his involvement with the Resistance movement between 1971 and 1974. Beyond his political career, he was the founder of the company Laos Bros and served as Vice President of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, playing an instrumental role in the city's entrepreneurial development.

Throughout his life, he remained a dedicated supporter of education and culture, contributing to the Board of Friends of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) and its student welfare committee. Until his final days, he remained active as a board member of the Pattichion Municipal Museum and Historical Archive of Limassol, leaving a lasting legacy as a collaborative and consensus-driven citizen.
