Tram in Limassol: A promising option with sustainability and cost as key factors

The potential introduction of a tram system in Limassol is under active investigation, with the Minister of Transport, Evanthia Tsolaki, and expert academics describing it as a promising prospect. Led by Professor Loukas Dimitriou, a research team is evaluating over 30 mobility scenarios for the city while assessing technical feasibility, high infrastructure costs, and strong public support. While no final decision has been made, the project is being viewed as a potential tool for urban regeneration, with preliminary study results expected later this year.
