Six to be deported following investigation into murder plot in Cyprus

Cyprus police have issued detention and deportation orders for six individuals arrested during an investigation into a criminal organization and a conspiracy to commit murder. These individuals are expected to be deported from the country within the coming days. The investigation was triggered by intelligence provided to the Cyprus Police via Europol by Danish authorities regarding a planned contract killing operation.

Separately, two men, aged 33 and 35, who were arrested on August 29, 2026, are scheduled to appear before the Famagusta District Court at 10:00 am on Monday. Legal proceedings are expected to be initiated against them to refer their case to the Criminal Court for trial.

The targets of the alleged plot were identified as twin siblings from Britain (described in some reports as foreign nationals from a third country) who were scheduled to visit Cyprus for a holiday. Police authorities state that the investigation into the criminal gang and the specific assassination plot remains ongoing.
