Limassol prepares for the 65th annual Wine Festival

The city of Limassol has begun final preparations for the 65th annual Wine Festival, marked by the ceremonial installation of the seven-metre tall 'vrakas' statue at the entrance of the Public Garden on Monday, September 14, 2026. The event was accompanied by traditional music performed by the Arion choir, signalling the final phase of setting up stalls and infrastructure for the nine-day celebration.

The festival is scheduled to run from September 26 to October 4, 2026, and will feature a diverse program including concerts, theatrical performances, and folklore shows across two main venues: the 'Under the Vrakas' stage and the Marios Tokas Municipal Garden Theatre. Mayor Yiannis Armeftis confirmed the progress of preparations and issued a public invitation to visitors from across Cyprus to attend the event, which promises to be more extensive than in previous years.

A press conference is scheduled for September 22, 2026, at 19:00, where further details regarding the event’s official program will be announced at the site of the statue. The festival remains a cornerstone of the city's cultural heritage, focusing on Cypriot hospitality and local winemaking traditions.
