Cyprus police pursue murder conspiracy case against two suspects

On September 14, 2026, Cyprus authorities announced that two suspects, aged 33 and 35, will be referred to the Criminal Court for their roles in a conspiracy to commit murder. The pair, who were among those arrested on August 29, 2026, during an operation in Larnaca and Ayia Napa, are scheduled for formal case registration at the Famagusta District Court at 10:00.

While two men face prosecution, the remaining six individuals arrested in connection with the same investigation are set to be deported from the Republic of Cyprus. Detention and deportation orders have already been issued for these six people, with their removal expected within the coming days. The investigation was initiated following intelligence shared by Danish authorities via Europol regarding contract killings planned on the island.

Police investigations revealed that the intended targets of the plot were twin brothers Jamie and Aaron Small, who have prior criminal convictions in England. The authorities focused on protecting the targets after gathering evidence of the planned contract hits. The legal process for the two remaining suspects will now proceed in the Criminal Court as part of ongoing efforts to address the criminal organization involved.
