APOEL moves to final stage of investment deal with ECM Partners
APOEL football club has reached a critical milestone in its proposed investment deal with the group led by Savvas Liasis and ECM Partners. The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) formally notified the club, its associated company, and the investors that it is prepared to grant an exemption from the three-year rule regarding the establishment of a new corporate entity, provided specific conditions are met. This regulatory approval paves the way for the formalization of the deal, which is expected to be licensed by March 2027.
Following the CFA's communication, the board members of the club and the company held emergency meetings and expressed satisfaction with the development, announcing a joint path forward. Savvas Liasis confirmed that the investment group is now entering the final stage of finalizing the definitive agreements. Legal teams are currently working to convert the preliminary framework into binding contracts. Completion of this deal is expected to provide immediate financial relief to the club, helping to address pressing economic obligations and support future operations. The proposed long-term vision, which was previously outlined as a 40-year plan with a 40-million-euro investment scope, is now moving toward implementation as both parties commit to finalizing the legal documentation.
