Five arrested following violent clash in Limassol
On the night of September 13, 2026, a violent altercation involving foreign nationals occurred in the Agios Ioannis area of Limassol. Police responded to reports of a clash and discovered a rental vehicle abandoned nearby containing clubs and a cleaver, which was seized for forensic examination. Shortly after the initial investigation, officers apprehended five individuals aged 21, 26, 27, 28, and 30 as they attempted to flee the scene on foot and by car. By 1:00 a.m. on September 14, authorities located two additional men, aged 22 and 24, suffering from severe head injuries and fractures in separate locations within the same area. The injured victims were transported to the Limassol General Hospital.
The five arrested suspects appeared before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their detention for seven days. They are currently being investigated for multiple offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony, assault resulting in grievous bodily harm, malicious damage, and illegal residency in the Republic of Cyprus. Police continue to investigate the extent of their involvement in the incident. Separately, in an unrelated development in Chloraka, police are investigating another clash between foreign nationals, reportedly of Syrian origin, that took place at a petrol station, resulting in vehicle damage and at least one injury.
