Five arrested in Limassol following violent attack

On the night of Sunday, September 13, 2026, a violent confrontation occurred in the Agios Ioannis area of Limassol. Police responded to reports of a fight around 10:00 PM and discovered a rental vehicle containing an axe and bats, which was subsequently seized for forensic examination. Shortly after the initial report, officers encountered five men attempting to flee the vicinity; three suspects were intercepted in a vehicle, while two were detained on foot. The suspects, aged 21, 27, 28, 26, and 30, were arrested for unlawful assembly and transferred to the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department.

At approximately 1:00 AM on September 14, authorities located two injured men, aged 24 and 22, at separate locations within the same area. Both individuals were transported by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where they remain in serious condition. While five arrests have been made, police investigators are currently working to determine whether the detained individuals are directly responsible for the injuries sustained by the two victims. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to verify the connections between the arrested suspects and the assault.
