Job vacancies in Cyprus declined in the second quarter of 2026

Data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus indicates that job vacancies reached 12,930 in the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents a significant decrease of 3,123 positions, or 19.5%, compared to the same period in 2025, when 16,053 vacancies were recorded. Furthermore, there was a decline of 975 positions, or 7.0%, compared to the first quarter of 2026.

The percentage of job vacancies relative to the total number of employees and vacancies stood at 2.6% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 2.8% in the previous quarter and 3.3% in the second quarter of 2025. The highest vacancy rates were observed in the accommodation and food service activities sector at 4.6%, followed by transportation and storage at 3.5%, and administrative and support service activities, also at 3.5%.

Combined, more than 4,000 job openings remain unfilled across the retail, tourism, and catering industries. These statistics reflect ongoing labor market shifts in Cyprus, although the reports do not specify future policy interventions or immediate regulatory changes following these findings.
